Branding & Website

Petal & Olive Photography

Petal and Olive Photography, run by the talented Laura Harrison, is an up-and-coming wedding photographer based near Magor in South Wales.

Specialising in weddings and family shoots, her talent is quite frankly ridiculous. AND she's a lovely person.

Having worked as a wedding photographer myself, I've become friends with Laura, and was honoured when she asked me to look at her branding and website. She had a Squarespace website without a proper logo, and for someone who's going strength to strength with her business, she needed a proper refresh.

Here's how the project started - her website definitely didn't support the quality of her work. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't what it could be.

Petal and Olive's website before the refresh

I started by asking for a list of competitors, and found that the majority also didn't have the best websites. Still, worth checking what we're up against whenever I start a new project like this.

Laura's website was also missing essential things such as a link to a contact page, so I looked through the website's content, and created a list of gaps and opportunities for improvements.

Next, I looked at Laura's logo. Her brand name came from her two sons names, Peter and Oliver, which just melted me! I couldn't explore how to integrate them into the logo without deviating from the purpose of the business (photography) so I focused instead on exploring ways to celebrate the name itself.

With the company name sounding organic and nature-based, I wanted to design around this. After a lot of research and experimentation, I created a logo that had flourishes to represent the petals, and an 'O' that resembled an olive.

I also played around with the colour palette so that it was extended, and able to be used more effectively. The primary colour had to be an olive green! I also chose a serif font that doesn't clash with the logo for headings on the website, and a clean sans-serif font to complement the header font. Here's what I presented to Laura:

I'm pleased to say she loved it, and so I got to work refreshing her website.

I got collaborator access to her Squarespace account (so no username or passwords were needing to be shared from her side). I tidied up her homepage, created new pages where they were needed, and cleaned up the rest of the website too.

Once live, I also shared with Laura some detailed PDF guides for how to install Meta pixels, Google pixels and Microsoft Clarity so that she can run ads and monitor how potential customers are using her website.

Here's how the homepage was looking when it launched, but feel free to check out the site (and her beautiful work) directly here: Petal and Olive Photography

And what's more, Laura's website refresh has resulted in some positive results in just the first month. The website launched on 18th July 2026.

Check out the graph below showing the total monthly visits in 2026. Exciting progress already!
