FAQs
Questions you’re likely to ask or are curious about
Getting started
How do I get started?
Just get in touch. I’ll ask a few questions about your business, what’s not working, and what you’re aiming for, then I’ll recommend the best way we can work together. No pressure, no jargon.
I don’t really know what I need yet - is that okay?
Completely fine. Most people don’t. You don’t need a perfect brief, that’s part of what you’re hiring me for. I’ll help you figure out what will actually make a difference.
Can we have a quick call to discuss things before I book you?
Absolutely, let’s hop on a 15-20 minute call and see what I can do to help.
Working together
What’s it like to work with you?
Collaborative, honest, and focused. I’ll guide the process, explain decisions clearly, and make sure we’re always working towards something that actually benefits your business, not just making things look nice.
We’ll have fun along the way - we spend so much time working and away from our personal lives, it’s important to enjoy work too.
Do you offer packages or custom quotes?
I use “starting from” pricing as a guide, but everything is quoted based on what you need. No unnecessary extras, no confusing or restrictive bundles.
Do you offer quick one-off design jobs?
Sometimes, but I focus on work that has real impact. If it’s a small task, I’ll either fit it in where I can or point you in the right direction.
Do you offer ongoing support/retainers?
Yes I do! This is for businesses that want consistent, strategic support.
You can request support as and when you need it, and I’ll work through tasks within your monthly hours.
I’ll also help prioritise where your time is best spent, so you’re not just ticking off small tasks but actually improving your business.
Can’t I just use Canva / AI / Fiverr / a cheaper designer?
You absolutely can, and sometimes that’s the right choice. But if you want something that’s thoughtful, strategic, and built to actually support your business long-term, that’s where I come in.
Will this definitely “fix” my business?
I’ll always focus on work that improves how your business looks and communicates, but design isn’t magic. Results come from how everything works together: your offer, your messaging, how you show up consistently, other marketing efforts, word of mouth etc.
Branding & Design
What’s the difference between a logo and a brand identity?
A logo is just one piece of the puzzle. A brand identity is everything that makes your business feel consistent and recognisable. That includes colours, fonts, style, and how it all works together.
Can you just design a logo?
Yes, but I’ll always be honest if I think something more is needed. A new logo won’t fix a confusing or inconsistent brand on its own.
Can you match another brand or designer’s style?
I take inspiration, but I don’t copy. The goal is to create something that works for your business, not a version of someone else’s.
Is DIY branding hurting my business?
Not necessarily. It’s a great place to start.
But over time, it can hold you back if it feels inconsistent, unclear, or doesn’t reflect the quality of what you offer.
The question isn’t “is it DIY?”, it’s “is it working?”
What makes a brand feel trustworthy?
Clarity and consistency.
People trust brands that feel considered, easy to understand, and the same across everything - from their website to their social content.
If something feels messy or confusing, people hesitate.
Do I need a rebrand or just clearer direction?
Not every business needs a full rebrand. Sometimes you just need to refine what you already have and apply it more consistently.
If things feel a bit off, it’s usually a direction issue. If everything feels disconnected, it might be time for a bigger change.
Websites
Do you design and build websites?
Yes, I design and build websites (usually in Framer), or I can improve what you already have. I can also work in Shopify to customise themes and carry out UX/UI improvements.
Do I need a brand before building a website?
Ideally, yes. Your website will only be as strong as the brand behind it. If needed, we can build that first.
How long does a website project take?
Most small business websites take 2–6 weeks, depending on the scope and how quickly content and feedback comes through
Can you fix my existing website instead of starting again?
Often, yes. I’ll always assess what you have first. Sometimes a few smart changes can make a big difference.
What is UX/UI?
UX is about how your website works - how easy it is for someone to find what they need or take action.
UI is how your website looks and feels - the design, layout, and elements people interact with.
The two work together: a beautiful website means nothing if it’s confusing to use, and a functional one won’t perform well if it doesn’t feel clear or trustworthy.
Why isn’t my website converting visitors into enquiries?
It’s not just about how it looks, it’s about how it works.
If people aren’t enquiring, it can be because:
it’s not clear what you offer
it’s not obvious who it’s for
or the next step isn’t clear
Your website should guide people. If they have to think too hard, they’ll leave.
Brand Photography
What can I use my photos for?
You can use your images across your business - website, social media, marketing, and print.
Can I use the photos in magazines or publications?
Yes, images can be used for PR and editorial features. Credit is always appreciated where possible - it really helps to support my business.
Pricing & processes
Why do you use “starting from” pricing?
Because no two businesses are the same. It gives you a rough idea, but your quote will reflect what you actually need - nothing more, nothing less.
How many revisions do I get?
Each project includes a set number of revision rounds. This keeps things focused and helps us make confident decisions, rather than endless tweaks.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes, for larger projects I can split payments into stages to make things more manageable.
What do you need from me?
Clear communication, honest feedback, and a bit of trust in the process. You don’t need to have all the answers, just be involved and open.
